Over the past couple weeks you've heard several announcements about the scholarships of the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation. These announcements have featured some of the foundation's less well known scholarships but there are many others. Start and application and take the Eligibility Quiz to see what you can apply for. There are many different awards! Also - if you're thinking to yourself right now "Why bother; I can't win" - remember the words of Wayne Gretzky "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take" and get your application in!

If you answered yes, perhaps the BRAND NEW Harold & Laura Jorgenson Memorial Scholarship is for you. Attention seniors! Thinking about studying Art in college? Thinking about going to the University of Wisconsin-Superior - one of the most affordable schools in the region? The Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation has two scholarships just for you. The Emile Mathis Scholarship and the Ronald Joseph Mathis Scholarship each provide $500 for art students at UWS. There are no other requirements - just art at UWS - but still there are very few applicants. This may be the scholarship for you if you apply by the January 15th deadline! Seniors. Do you have a Green Thumb?! The Minnesota State Horticultural Society is offering two $500 scholarships and one $250 scholarship to college bound students in our region who have shown interest or participation in horticultural/gardening activities. The deadline is March 1, 2016. See Mr. Townsend for details and an application.
Ever considered working in Minnesota's mining industry? The newly created Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration Scholarship might be just what you're looking for. Use this $4000 scholarship to pay for your degree in mining, engineering or geology and you could be on your way to a great career in a well paying, local job. If you have a GPA of 2.5 or higher and want to become a mining engineer or mineralogist, put in an application for this scholarship at dsacommunityfoundation.com by the January 15th deadline to be in the running. .

It could be yours if you win the Saturn Systems Scholarship from the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation. You need a high school 3.0 GPA and plan to study Computer Science at the University of Minnesota Duluth to get in on this action.
